On 3 June in Dakar, Senegal, the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique praised the outstanding role played by the African Parliamentary Union (APU) in rallying African countries around common objectives.

According to the spokesperson for the Standing Committee of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, MP Manuel Rodrigo Ramessane, who was speaking at the opening of the 85th Session of the Executive Committee, the member parliaments of the APU must continue to strengthen ties of solidarity and cooperation in the interests of the continent as a whole.

The MP stated that Mozambique positions itself as an active and committed partner in building a more united, peaceful and prosperous Africa, capable of responding to current challenges with its own solutions.

In this regard, he stated that parliaments have an important role to play as representatives of the people, and that it is their responsibility to ensure that the voice of the people is heard, their opinions taken into account and their interests safeguarded in the various decision-making forums.

The delegation from Mozambique, a parliament that is not a member of the APU, participated as a special guest at the event.
