High level parliamentary conference on the terrorist threat in Africa
The UNOCT Programme Office on Parliamentary Engagement, in partnership with the African Parliamentary Union and the Shura Council of the State of Qatar organized in Doha (Qatar) on 30 and 31 March 2022 a high level parliamentary conference on ?Understanding the terrorist threat in Africa: new challenges and necessary measures?. During the conference, representatives of African national parliaments and parliamentary assemblies discussed existing and emerging terrorist threats in the African continent and identified measures to support parliamentarians in mitigating and addressing these threats through technical and capacity-building assistance, including the development or revision of national strategies and action plans to counter terrorism and prevent violent extremism.
Meeting of the African geopolitical Group of IPU

Signature of the Protocol Agreement for the organization of the 42th Conference (Djibouti, November 2019)
The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Honorable Mohamed Ali HOUMED and Mr. IDI Gado Boubacar, Secretary General of the African Parliamentary Union signed the protocol Agreement relating to the organization in DJIBOUTI of the 75th Session of the Executive Committee and the 42nd conference of the African Parliamentary Union (Djibouti, 25-29 November 2019).
On this occasion, the Speaker of the National Assembly, His Excellency Mohamed Ali Houmed, said the following: “We received the APU Secretary General, Mr. IDI Gado Boubacar, within the framework of the preparation of the 75th Session of the Executive Committee and the 42nd conference of the African Parliamentary Union which will take place in our country. You know, APU is an instrument for parliamentary meetings at the continental level, so it is an important event. When the Republic of Djibouti asked to host this Session, its proposal was unanimously accepted and I think it is an important event that must be taken with great care ".
The Secretary General of the UPA affirmed on this occasion: "It is within the framework of the preparations for these sessions that we are here and we were well received. In addition to the Speaker of the National Assembly, we also met the organizing committee as well as the members of the APU members of the Djiboutian section, that which facilitated our mission.
The culmination of this mission was the protocol Agreement which mentions the obligations of both the National Assembly of Djibouti and APU for the organization of these sessions. These sessions will bring together more than 200 parliamentarians as well as representatives of international institutions who will take part as observers. "
