The African Group prepares for the Arusha meeting
The African Group will hold its meeting as part of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on 4 October 2026 in Arusha, Tanzania.
Among the topics to be discussed at this meeting are the election of the IPU President, the consideration of an urgent matter, vacancies within the IPU’s organs, and the Cooperation Agreement between the African Group and the Arab Group.
The African Group, for which the African Parliamentary Union provides the secretariat, is a coordinating body bringing together representatives of the African national groups within the IPU.
The objectives of the African Group are as follows: to coordinate the actions and policies of its members; to support the adoption of a common position on issues submitted to the Inter-Parliamentary Union; and to defend the interests of the group’s members.
