On 3 and 4 June 2026, the Republic of Senegal will host the 85th Session of the Executive Committee of the African Parliamentary Union (APU).

On Tuesday 31 March 2026, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the secretaries-general of the two institutions, namely Mr IDI GADO Boubacar of the APU and Mr Amadou THIMBO of the National Assembly of Senegal, with a view to bringing this event to fruition.

The agreement sets out the responsibilities of each party in relation to the organisation of this session of the Executive Committee.

The previous 84th Session of the UPA Executive Committee was held on 18–19 November 2025 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, in conjunction with the 47th Conference, which took place on 21–22 November.
