The Gabonese Parliament and the African Parliamentary Union Strengthen Their Cooperation
As part of efforts to strengthen ties between the Gabonese Parliament and the African Parliamentary Union (APU), the APU Vice President, the Honorable Alioune GUEYE, a member of Mali’s National Transitional Council, undertook a mission to the Gabonese Parliament.
He was received in audience on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Libreville, by the President of the Senate, Her Excellency Ms. Huguette Yvonne Nyana Ekoume.
The Honorable Alioune GUEYE traveled to Gabon as a representative of the President of the African Parliamentary Union, the Rt. Hon. Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, President of the Senate of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The Vice-President took part in the opening of the Senate’s regular session as a special guest.
During this meeting, the Honorable Vice-President of the African Parliamentary Union conveyed fraternal greetings from the Union’s President.
The subsequent discussions focused on strengthening ties between the two institutions, particularly on the Gabonese Parliament’s major historical role within the African Parliamentary Union and its commitment to the Union’s current revitalization efforts.
Both parties welcomed the opportunity for this meeting and the fraternal exchanges between the two delegations.
The APU was founded in 1976 and comprises 41 African national parliaments.
